I've been writing slam poetry for the past 2 years and I realized it in November. Now I love it and in the past week I've written 3 slams

Every child born has the desire to be their best. That includes you and me. As children we would do anything to win the approval of our parents. We desired to contribute in a meaningful way to the family and society. But along the pathway of life our journey was obstructed by disappointments. We often suffered countless insults and injury as we grew seeking approval from friends and peers. We began to doubt our adequacy, our ability to effect good in the world, our world. Our youthful optimism became tarnished. We became critical of ourselves and others. We began to seek approval in our ability to disrupt and to rebel. We no longer sought the approval of family. We questioned humanities intent and pondered our existence and purpose in a world filled with critics and fault finders. Some, amazingly, found a way to circumvent these hazards. Others experienced a reality as different as night and day from what has been described. But they are in the minority. For their parents and their environment have been conducive to their growth, compel their evolution and progress. Blessed are they.

Blessed are we who, realizing our own advantage push forward past despair, doubt, and hesitancy to arrive at and create a place where others can thrive and where we can pursue the dreams we have imagined.

As you contemplate your beginnings consider this, no matter how difficult the task, no matter how long the journey, advocate possibility, hope and encourage bold action for your family, friends, strangers and yourself today, tomorrow, and for eternity.

here's my first "poem". I'm not sure if i should call it a poem, but here:

The funny thing is, I don't even know where I stand
I'm at a different floor
at a different place
I look up,
he helps me.
But how?
I know he's helped me in the past,
But as of today, I feel my life's flipped.
AGAIN
I think one thing's going to happen,
but it doesn't.
Is this really what he wants?
right now, I’d rather die.
but, life goes on.
Why bother going negative?
I say it's the emotion.
the ones we want to go
the ones that make hearts shatter
and faith to fall.
I wish I could just grow wings,
let everyone forget about me,
forget about who I am
and help the rest of the world.
The only goal I think I’ll have the rest of my life
is to become an angel
on judgment day.
Until then, I survive.
So that when the day of judgment comes;
he'll save me
and I'll save them.

I don't write poetry well but I do love to read it. I think the ability to write poetry is a gift beyond belief.

my mind cant find the words
but my heart is screaming loudly
how could i let things get this bad
let my mind act so proudly
im fighting within myself
i admit the pain has drifted
but im hurting full of regret
for the love that ive seen has shifted
i know that i can do better
but my heart knows no logic
my brain says do for yourself
but my soul says let fate call it
for he loves me this i do know
but his touch is what i so long for
and although we've both moved on
his voice is what i keep strong for
so please give me a cure
for this sickness thats now called love
cause i don't know what hurts more
loss of him or mother above
so i wait and hope for the best
or at least a reasonable solution
because his presence comes far to often
to my body its become a pollution
lord please give me an answer
please show where i am to go
mistakes i make to frequently
please tell me what i am to know
but i know that this is all senseless
since i know the choice is my own
but im begging for some sort of guidence
i just cant seem to cope on my own
since my mind cannot find the words
and my heart has been screaming so loudly
ever since ive let things get this bad
and allowed my mind to act proudly..............
